I picked this up from from [info]apocalypticbob

20 Years Ago, - 1987 - I was eighteen years old. I had graduated high school, was not in college yet, working at York’s Restaurant (it was like Bonanza or Ponderosa), and living in my parents’ basement. I was not dating anyone.

15 Years Ago, - 1992 - I was twenty-three. I was a senior at Massachusetts College of Arts. My (painting degree) professor had gone on medical leave (Aids) so we had a substitute professor, who was the worst teacher I have ever had. At the same time my printmaking professor was the best teacher I ever had. He taught me that I wasn’t “studying to be an artist” that I was already an artist, who was studying for a degree. I was working at Papa Gino’s (pizza, subs, & pasta). I was still living in my parents’ basement. I was not dating anyone.

10 Years Ago, - 1997 - I was twenty-eight. I was assistant manager at Lauriat’s Bookstore. I would typically get to work by bicycle (roughly two miles). I was living with my fiancé in Framingham. I was not painting.

5 Years Ago, - 2002 - I was thirty-two. I was working in the Lifeline Call center (handling “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” calls, literally). I would typically get to work by bicycle (roughly 3.5 miles). I was living with my wife in Framingham (different apartment). We had been married just over a year. I was trying to painting.

2 Years Ago, - 2005 – I was thirty-six. I was working for Lifeline in the Software Quality Assurance (testing) group, temporarily. I was living in Worcester. I would typically get to work by walking (1 mile) to the train station and taking the train to work. I was trying to save my marriage. My wife had given me until the end of the year to prove that I could be the person she needed me to be. I was desperately cleaning the house for a) the reason above; b) I was hosting a gaming party for about 25 people in a couple of weeks; c) we were hosting Thanksgiving that year. I was not painting.

1 Year Ago, - 2006 – I was thirty-seven. I had been hired permanently by the Lifeline, Software Quality Assurance (testing) group. Lifeline had been bought by Philips Electric, making my company stock very valuable. I was still living in Worcester. I would get to work by walking (1 mile) to the train station and taking the train to work.

I was still recovering from my wife moving out in the spring. I had joined LJ over the summer and was meeting a lot of great people. I was preparing myself to meet [info]chaoticgoodchic in person in about a week. I visited the local art supply store and found out they were having a sale on paints and canvases, which was good because the day before I had posted a “creativity meme” promising artwork to friends, and I had decided to make a “Mother & Son” portrait for one of them.

So far this year, - 2007 – I have completed 3 paintings this year, and gave them all away. I have 4 more in progress, 2 should be done by the end of the month. Job is same, good fit. I’m still living same place, commuting by train. I have filed for divorce. I have gone to 5 conventions this year, 3 of them out of state. My relationship with CGC has grown.

Yesterday, Work, did a favor for my soon-to-be-ex, packed.

Today, Work, when I leave work, catch a plane to Chicago to see [info]chaoticgoodchic.

Tomorrow/This Weekend Go to a birthday party, then fly back to Boston on Sunday.

Sounds like things keep getting better for you.

This makes me think "20 years ago I was living... in my parent's.. closet" Hmm.
