Fighting Boredom

On friday I completed a SQL Server training course. I did learn some things, but at times it was very difficult to stay awake. The class was over at 4pm, but my ride would not be able to meet me till 7pm. The training center was next door to the Burlington Mall, so I went to the mall to kill some time. I finished the book I was reading (A Year and a Day by Sara M. Harvey, good book, I highly recommend it) by 5pm and started window-shopping. I wondered as I walked around the mall if I would run into anyone I know.

I looked into a couple of stores but didn't see anything I liked. I was starting to think about getting dinner when I saw a familiar face. I didn't know her name, but I was sure I had seen her at a filk circle somewhere. After she passed me I turned around and asked her "Do I know you from Arisia or Boskone?" She told me that she is a regular at Arisia. She was heading to dinner, so we decided to eat together at Cheesecake Factory.

I mentioned my interest in filk and she admitted that she loved to listen to filk, but would hide in the back and not sing. She is also a big fan of board/table games, and in fact had plans friday night to meet up with some friends and play boardgames, in Worcester.
(As a point of information for people outside of Mass. Burlington and Worcester are nowhere near each other.)

I asked her what games she liked. She told me she was a fan of Zendo. I had played Zendo once before, this past Arisia. I thought for a moment then told her, "I played Zendo with you before." I then went on to describe one of the Zendo pattern she had set up back in January. She smiled and said she remembered that. (It's a game geek thing.) We ate dinner and talked more about games, and then it was 6:30. We exchanged e-mail addresses, she took off, and I went to see if my ride might be early.

Cool! Glad to hear you had a nice dinner. Also, that is a very cleverly done piece of posting above. Short entry that hides a very different and longer entry.

The tags are a clue that the full entry is more involved than the intro

No, I'm in Software Quality Assurance (Testing). It helps me to know a little bit of "everything"
